For Windows:

(1) When the installation for the USB-to-PDA Cable is completed, the system will automatically assign a COM port to this device. It will show the COM port status in the information window. If this COM port setting is ok, the message appears in Green.

If the COM port currently occupied by the cable is in conflict with another device, the message will appear in Red.

(2). You must now click “Manual” to manually select a new COM port or click "Auto" (Recommend) to search for a suitable one.

You will not be able to change the COM port to ports shown as "N/A". Each time you assign a new COM port, you will need to click "SET" and "Refresh" to test the settings. 7. Troubleshooting Guide

This section describes common problems found during the installation process, configuration, and regular usage of USB to PDA cable. Follow the procedures below to resolve these common problems.

Q: I am a MAC user, I can not open your MAC driver please tell me how to do it?

A: If you can not open pl2303g.sit this file, please download Expander™ from  http://www.aladdinsys.com/downloads/software.html to open it.

Q: Where I can get latest Palm Desktop Software?

A: You can download latest Palm Software at http://www.palm.com/support/downloads/

Q: Not able to sync after a hot swap

A: Be patient, the Hotsync manager takes about a minute to update. If it doesn't update automatically then restart your computer with the cable inserted.

Q: No response is shown on the PC screen when the cable is inserted

A: 1. Make sure you have inserted the USB connector (marked with USB logo) into PC's USB port. Some PCs have an IEEE1394 port or a LAN port that an USB cable can fit into.

2.Check if the cable is securely inserted into PC's USB port. If not, remove the cable and re-insert it.

3. If step 2 does not resolve the problem, check if the USB controller is activated. To check this, select "My Computer" -> "Control Panel" -> "System" -> "Device Manager" -> "Universal Serial Bus controller" and check for "USB Root Hub". If it doesn’t exist, you will need to install your USB controller from your PC's CDs. Please check the user’s manual of your PC for details, or contact your local PC dealer for help.

Q: When installing the cable under Windows ME/98/2000/XP, Windows responds "driver not found" or "unable to locate a driver" or "Unknown Device"

A: 1. Click "CANCEL", remove the cable, and insert the installation CD into your CD-ROM drive. Follow the on-screen instructions and insert the cable when asked to do so. This will install the device driver and reboot your system.

Q: Under Windows 2000, if you want to uninstall the utility then install it again.

A: Please remove or uninstall your "USB Device" from the "Device Manager", than reinsert the cable. Or check "Resources" from the "Device Manager" to see if the cable is in conflict with other devices. If there is a conflict, please re-allocate the resource for your USB device.
